Author Orange data - finally some competitive tariffs

Today's Times
(http://business.timesonline.co.uk/t...icle1690586.ece)
has what appear to be new data tariffs being launched by Orange this week.
They still use the dreaded word "simplify" so caution is required but on the
face of it, looks very reasonable & competitive with T-Mobile & Three.

The new offers from Orange
Contract: Internet "snacks" - 30p for 15mins with daily cap of £1.50 or a
"bundle" priced at £1 per day or £5 monthly for evening/ weekends or £8
monthly "anytime"
Pay-as-you-go: Internet snacks - 40p for 15 mins with daily cap of £2 or a
daily £1 bundle

I was almost ready to move one of my larger contracts over to T-Mobile when
the N95 launched, this might persuade me to stay.

How does 15 minutes work with GPRS??

I notice the standard marketing lie in that article that the reason
people don't use the stuff much is because it is too complicated. It
couldn't possibly be anything to do with rip off pricing.

As usual the T&Cs will be crucial. Possible gotchas might be:

Contract version only available on the £50 a month Weasel tariff.

Fair usage policy something silly like 100MB.

No modem use for computers.

Blocking or banning stuff like VoIP, IM etc.

Easily, I'd imagine. 15 minutes of a GPRS connection. Other countries'
mobile services have used per minute plans on GPRS before.

Probably the time you start the session.

It's more likely that people simply aren't interested.

The £5 per month for unlimited evening and weekends is already
available, and being given away with two months free at this moment in
time, with any new connection 18 month term and above.
