Cell Phones in Great Britain - Darn New Message appears on phone where there is none

Darn New Message appears on phone where there is none

I have an annoying issue with mobile, I have a virgin SIM and for what ever
reason it keeps bring up a message about thetre being a voicemail. which
there is not.

Tried the sim in my Motorola A1000 and Qlok 1010 phone

It is annoying as on the A1000 it brings the screen to life shortening the
already bad battery life of the device.

If I do actually get a voicemail, I get a voicemail Icon appear. If I clear
the voicemail, then this icon vanishes but another different type of message
appears again

Any ideas?
