just received a samsung e900 on orange contract,
it came in a samsung box with a orange sim taped
to the outside. when I've had phones on orange
before, they have been in an orange box with sim
card in box. could this phne be not locked to
orange? how can i find out without trying a
different sim?

Don't think you can. Trying another SIM is the easiest (and the only) way
that I'm aware of.
Though, sounds like a fair chance that it won't be Orange locked/branded

places like e2save usually send unlocked phones.
the locked ones often have the phone company logo on the phone - whereas the
unlocked ones don't.

it was the only place doing orange 12 month free
contract, i believe orange have now put their
commission prices down, after i ordered, they kept
phoneing me trying to talk me into a contact with
o2/voda etc.
