Author Can't connect to o2 GPRS (phone is Fujitsu-Siemens LOOX T810)

I cannot get connected to the web on my PDA-phone using gprs and o2's
service. I phoned up o2 and they gave me all the correct settings,
but I am still unable to connect. Every time I try to connect to a WAP
site, the browser tries for a minute or so and then says: "The page
cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost.
Check the connection and try again later".

I even drove over to a hill where I was in full view of the radio
mast. No Joy. Anyone got any suggestions? The phone is brand new, and
has Windows Mobile 5. Is there something I still need to configure?

Thank you.

Did they give you the settings from this document?

http://www.o2.co.uk/assets/O2[....]Fs/ T68i%20email%20set%2
0up.pdf

ignore all the email stuff, it's just the APN stuff on page 2 you want

I have used them for years

Thanks for the link - but the URL seems dead. I tried to find a page
with the setup details, but can't find one for "o2 Active" (which is
what I need, because it's the only one you can use on a Pay & Go
account, they tell me). The only way to get the settings seems to be
to fill in a form using a drop-down box to state your phone make and
model, and mine isn't included!

I may give them another call tomorrow and see if I get a different
person with different ideas than the last one.

PS

I cracked it! I simply typed in a different URL into my PDA's browser
than the one the o2 tekkie told me to type in.

He told me to type http://wap.o2.co.uk which is supect was an error
on his part.

When I typed in http://www.google.co.uk just now, I found I could
connect straight away!

Jake,

sorry about the link it should have been

http://www.o2.co.uk/assets/O2Hybrid...2
0up.pdf

there may be better info for your device on the launch page for the
above link

http://www.o2.co.uk/services/waystoconnect/getsetup

These are the only settings that I know work with everything I want to
do, eg basic web access, email, google mail app, google maps app,
youtube app, internet radio. If I use the O2 active settings then I get
limited access.
I am currently on pay monthly but have been on PAYG with those settings
(before June 2005!)

Let me know if they work as I am considering moving back to PAYG.

Cheers,

IanM

Thanks for the new link. I tried the settings but still no luck. Same
results as before. When my T-Mobile sim arrives I'll try connecting to
T-Mobile's Web 'n Walk service...
