service from carphone ..............phone was free if brought with 10
quid credit. Now i start having problems ........web site says allow 7
days for credit , waited 9 days no credit . Phoned Virgin who said
nothing to do with us ............carphone said ok have updated your
request wait another 8 days . We are on 8 days and still no credit on
account .............i know its only 10 quid but do they have a secret
policy to stall you so that a certain percentage dont chase it up . Will
ring them again :(

I had the same problem only slightly different a couple of weeks ago
when I bought two of these by phone the salesman said there is a fiver
on the sim when you get it and a further ten will be added in seven
days . Don't know about the tenner didn't wait that long to find out
there was no fiver on the sim's when the phones arrived so went to our
local store had a polite word with the manager who in turn had a few
words to say to customer service over the phone and said I will be
getting a full refund by cheque in five days .
However I did get what I consider to be a bargain from our local Tesco
on Saturday a Nokia 2310 on Virgin £ 20.00 including a tenner credit
which is added to the phone when you call the number on the voucher
which Tesco supply plus £1.00 on the sim to start with plus a further
£ 2.00 when you register the phone. In effect the phone as only cost
me seven pounds and is heaps better quality than the crap carphone W
supplied .

You can get an unlocked 2310 from a CPW for 9.95+10quid credit
(19.95 total) on Virgin / TMobile / O2.

My Tesco Virgin deal is margenally cheaper 13.00 credit in total
and seven pounds for the phone I am not all that keen on CPW
but just phoned them last week by change to see what they where
offering . When the guy said free phone and ten pound for the credit
plus a fiver on the sim to start with jumped the 13.00 on the Tesco
deal will probably last me at least a year I only use PAYG when I am
in Belgium I use my contract phone in the UK.

But the Tesco one will almost certainly be SPlocked, whereas
the CPW one will be unlocked GSM stock, allowing you to use any sim
including local sims when abroad.
IMHO well worth the extra 3 quid

It is most certainly locked it came in a Virgin mobile box but I am
quite happy with it and Virgin mobile which is more than I can say for
Virgin's broadband offering my contract phone is on Virgin also

Ok I suppose if you are one of these people who like to start waving a
mobile about whenever they step through their front doors I much
prefer to use a phone where the ears of the world cannot eavesdrop on
my conversations .

Nope, I just like my phones unlocked so I can use any Sim,
especially abroad, when I can use a local Sim to make cheap local,
and calls back to the UK

Fair do's Steve if you are in mainland Europe a lot over the year it
does make sense but I come out of the tunnel French side at around
5.30 PM and back in Folkstone at 3.30 PM the next day and only three
times a year or four at the most .
I only have a PAYG because I just do not want any nasty surprises when
my contract bill arrives regarding calls made when out of the UK .
