Author cheapest unlocked dual band PAYG?

I need an unlocked dual band phone to take with me abroad, to put a S
African SIM in. Don't want to take my phone with me as I'll probably leave
it there - anyone know which is the cheapest phone?
Thanks

F3 is a toy, Nokia 1600 for 20quid from Woolworths,
WH Smiths had them for 15quid but i think they have sold out.

Unlock it for free using
http://www.unlockitfree.com

Or at CPW
Nokia 2310, 9.95+10quid of air time on various networks

Don't get it on Orange, it'll be locked.

T Mobile or O2 should be unlocked GSM stock
check before you buy

When you go to a CPW store and they bring the phone out look at the box. If
it does not have a network's name on it then it should be unlocked. You can
either use upany credit on the SIM or just bin it and use any SIM in the
phone.

I understand that phones are expensive in SA so you may be able to flog it
for a profit just before you return.

Argos have a Sagem my220X with a virgin SIM but there's no branding on the
box or on the phone. Is it likely to be locked - or is there any way I can
find out? (Haven't got any spare SIMS and as we go on Sunday, no time to get
any)

Argos phones are always locked to the network.

unbanded.
