The bass rendition must be marvellous.

But it won't be. In headphones the waves are essentially inserted directly
into the ear canals - dispersion and loss are minimal, and so the size of
the transponder (speaker) is not very important.

OTOH for a loudspeaker the wavelength is many times the size of the
transponder for bass and the output suffers - this is why decent room
speakers are large.
