anyone recommend anywhere in or around Glasgow to get mobile phones
debranded? (i.e. replace the operator firmware with the
manufacturers)

Any decent mobile phone market stall or independantly run phone shop should
be able to do this for you (depending to some extent on the make/model). You
shouldn't expect to have to pay more than about 10-15 quid.
